Valhalla is not 'heaven' it's
God's House for Warriors and others who have Died without Fear.
So of course there are Hot-A**
Waitresses and Dancers!
were more colorful about it and
their part of the Legends became more Pervasive... Have you seen the Movie 'Thor'? I want to but I sort of Don't, just what I read they did some erratic screenplay butchery and
it was based on 'comic book' stuff that already had been
'dumbed down' (c'mon, Topless
Valkyries in a mainstream comic
for kiddies?)
If you want a really neat (or
else just Creepy) Connection to
Modern (recent, like 200 Years)
of History, consider this:
You have undoubtedly heard how
the Nazi Party in Germany referred to 'the third reich'
("das Drei Reich" in the Language of das Volk)
This is because in All of Time,
the Germanic People were United
Alles only Three Times, First under Siegfried, Second under the Prussian Kings (Kaiser Wilhelm and son) and Third under the Nazi Party... the Party was all about Celebrating a weird, Politically-Butchered version of the Legends of the Germanic Tribes, as a form of 'Patriotism' that has seen no Equal before or since.
That's why if an Orchestra
plays Wagner's Music in front of
a Jewish Audience, they get Booed off the Stage...
I really like that Girl at the Door, I hope She is a Dancer on alternate Nights....
I haven't seen Thor yet, for the same reasons you listed. I've heard good things about it but I would just like to see a good mythological movie based of Thor, or any of the gods for that matter. Actually I would love to see a good Viking movie too, a realistic one that doesn't involve mythology or helmets with horns. And for the love of God would somebody please make a good Beowulf movie that sticks to the poem. Everytime a new one comes out I watch it in hopes, and always and up disappointed.
hehehe, this is such an old image of mine. I can't stand looking at the hair in it, perhaps one day I should re-visit this one and re-do the hair.
the little fuehrer was a big Fan, had the stuff played at all big nazi party functions. It's the same thing that happened to the Filmmaker
Leni Reifenstal, who made movies before the War, but like 'hollywood' Here, was enlisted by the Nazi Government to do War
Propaganda Films... If you can
find any of Her Work, you have to see it; even the political propaganda pieces are Amazing
examples of 'old-school' B & W
Moviemaking.
And yeah, I was disappointed
by what has been done with a
lot of the older 'ledgends' like Beowulf and Vikings in general... but the old legends
don't have a 'fan base' or even
many who Study them any more.
It would be totally Amazing to take Wagner's Ring and make it into something along the lines of "Lord of the Rings" but that would be ripping off
the Writer (Tolkien) who ripped off Wagner in the First place..
But I can totally Picture in my Mind how with that Level of
CGI Effects what the Forges of
the Nieblungen would look like, the whole Kingdom-under-the-Mountain, and Albrecht burying the Gold in the Rhine by Dropping the Mountainside into it....
But I would love to sit through a big production of 'The Ring'. THAT would be awsome I don't care how many hours it was.
